Hey, hockey fans! It’s the best time of the year again. That’s right, the Blues will be playing their very first home game of the season tonight, October 4, as they face off against the Winnipeg Jets. Maybe you’ll be going to the game to cheer on the home team. Or maybe you’ll watch the game from the comfort of your home. Either way, the 2018-2019 hockey season is a time to celebrate and hope for a Stanley Cup win this year, so it’s time to set the tone right with a party!

Here are 5 handy tips to help you throw pretty much the best hockey viewing party EVER:

Don Your Team Colors – We all know that the best way to really show spirit is to wear the right colors. If you’re rooting for the Blues, throw on some blue and gold, or better yet, proudly wear your favorite player’s sweater. Up the fun factor by making a contest out of it – the person who has the most team spirit gets a cool prize!

Create Your Own Goal Celebrations – Aside from yelling like a complete maniac, there are plenty of great ways to let the world know your team scored. Do the wave a few times. Fist-bump and chest-bump each other (without destroying any furniture, if possible). Take your celebratory handshakes to the next level with some sweet dance moves. There’s really no wrong way to revel in a goal for the good guys, so long as you don’t hurt yourself or others!

Hockey Bingo, Anyone? Face it – themed Bingo is fun to play whether you’re a diehard fan or you’re just there for the food. And the best thing is they don’t have to cost anything! Create your own hockey-themed bingo cards or have your guests fill in their cards with hockey terms that they think they’ll hear during the game (net, rink, power play, score, etc.). Mark the terms off as you hear them. The first one to call out a successful Bingo wins something awesome like miniature hockey ducks, Blues memorabilia, or some other type of themed prize!

Break Out Some Games – It’s next to impossible to avert your eyes from the TV whenever the game’s in play. But what do you do in between the periods? You play games of your own, that’s what! Challenge your friends to a round of air hockey or a hockey-themed video game. Heck, take out your game-related stress out on a hockey piñata (we know how nerve-racking the game can get!).

Serve Up Themed Desserts – It’s just not a party without some good food, especially desserts. Get creative by whipping up a cake that looks like the Blues’ rink, or nab some themed desserts that feature your favorite players’ numbers, Louie’s adorable blue face, hockey pucks, or the Blues’ logo.

Oh, speaking of desserts, why not make it easy on yourself and grab some delicious Blues cookies and more from McArthur’s Bakery? Stop in any of our locations to find yours today. Let’s go, Blues!
